中文：本課旨在教導學生架設網站所需之語言、軟體以及相關知識與能力，以備將來從事網路相關之行業。所教授知能包括：

•1.      架設網站語言入門，如HTML, CSS 和 Javascripts

•2.      架設網站工具箱，如Dreamweaver 和Photoshop

•3.      架設網站原則與範例研究

修畢此課，同學應可以依據所教授之架設網站原則與技術，架設一個展現型網站，並了解如何更進一步增進程式設計或是美工設計方面的網站設計能力。

與計畫目的之關連性

本課程屬「跨文化溝通與創意行銷」英文課程系列課程中的技術課程。

Course Description

Objectives: The goal of this course is to prepare students with the ability to work on Internet related projects. This course will achieve this by providing our students the knowledge of Website Design and Development, and its related knowledge domain capabilities.

This course will focus on:

•1.      Introducing the entry level knowledge of Website Development, including HTML, CSS and Javascripts.

•2.      Useful tooltips including Website Best Practices (clean coding, performance evaluation, using Dreamweaver and Photoshop)

•3.      Case studies of website - general guidelines and rules.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course learners will be able to:

Create a web page including text, images and hyperlinks

    Understand the basics of HTML

    Use CSS for advanced formatting of web pages

    Create a three-page website that includes navigation links, headings for each page and links

Who should attend?

•1)      This course is designed for students, managers, sole traders and business people wishing to develop their own website, maintain an existing website, or those creating web development specifications for web developers.

•2)      This course assumes basic knowledge of word processing.

•3)      We will use Personal Computers (PCs) but this should not deter confident MAC users.

Course outline

This course will cover the basics of HTML, explores the role of CSS and Javascript in modern website design, the basics of graphic design and digital image processing.  We will use Adobe Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop.

The topics covered include:

Introduction to HTML.

HTML is a language for describing web pages. The purpose of a web browser (like Internet Explorer or Firefox) is to read HTML documents and display them as web pages. The browser does not display the HTML tags, but uses the tags to interpret the content of the page.

Introduction to Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) language

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is widely used in controlling the appearance of the web design by separating the visual presentation from the content. CSS is quickly becoming a popular tool for web designers and those who wish to enhance their own web pages in the quickest, most efficient way. This course covers the basics of CSS syntax and use to create an attractive, easy-to-use web page. CSS is simple, powerful, practical and appropriate for all users who have a solid working knowledge of HTML.

Javascript

JavaScript is a programming language that provides a powerful tool for rapidly developing highly interactive, dynamic Web sites. Javascript is used in form validations and creating interactive web pages. The course covers integration of Javascript and Dynamic HTML into web pages. Examples of Javascript calculators and online form validation scripts to validate text -based input will be introduced and the implementation of Graphics slideshows practised.

Introduction to Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is hands down, the most popular program for creating and modifying images for the web.

This class will introduce you to the tool palette, basic commands, common menus, layers and how to make selections based on shape and color etc.

Introduction to Adobe Dreamweaver

Adobe Dreamweaver is a web authoring and editing software that provides both visual and code-level capabilities for creating standards-based websites and designs for the desktop, smartphones, tablets, and other devices.

課程主軸發展：先奠定網站程式語言基礎，然後發展網站美工設計能力以及提供架設網站所需之實務知識。

與計畫目的之關連性
在系列課程中，本課程為學生奠立網站設計基礎，以便學生可以架設簡單網站，宣傳台灣文化；日後在網路公司內服務也得以了解網站設計團隊的分工模式。

四、創意及特殊規劃

     為英文系學生量身製作之網站設計課程，兼顧程式語言與美工設計。

五、作業設計

學習網站建構功能與美工技巧隨堂小作業10個 -

期末完整網站30%

六、指定用書及參考書籍

There are a lot of examples and learning websites online for us to learn from.

修畢此課，學生得以

1.了解製作網站原則與HTML, CSS語言。

2. 製作一個含文字、圖檔與連結的網頁            

3. 製作一個含標題與連結的主題網站(約三頁)

3. 了解繼續改進此網站，與程式設計或美工設計進修的方式。
