What a Person Should Consider When Selecting a Career

      Work is the way to maintain our own livelihood and it’s quite necessary for survival. While choosing a job, everyone has their own opinions. A classified ad once said on choosing job: “with good salary, less duty, near the apartment and without getting up early.” Although most people will put them into consideration, yet for me, those conditions are just skin- deep in choosing a job. After all, it is impossible to get without any labor. In order to have more qualifications to compete with others, we must enrich our knowledge and broaden our mind. In college, we should find out the interest of our own. In addition to the major courses we study, we must develop work skills. Finding the interest and developing work skills are the preparation one makes when selecting job in the future.

      After graduation, finding a suitable job is the tough decision that we encounter first. Some people may consider how much will the salary be and how far the office is. For them, money and distance seem to be the most important. However, for me, I think interest is the most important. If I choose a job that I like to do, then without any doubt, I will do it wholeheartedly and without feeling worn-out. Keeping yourself in passion of the job is significant; not only because passion can make you concentrated on work, but also because being passionate can learn more while working. Learn while working? You might learn lots of knowledge in university, but what you have learned is just a small part of knowledge. During working, you might face countless problems that are not taught in college. And how to deal with that is a trial. Another consideration on distance is also not so important to me. I think everyone is an individual; we must sustain on our own without support. Leaving home is inevitable; for me; it is kind of precious trial that I can manage to be independent.

      When you are prepared to face the challenge of a good job, you must affirm that you have enough ability and qualification. All these be accumulated while you study at university. This can enable you to face all kinds of challenges with ease in your work place. If you have not got ready yet, but anxious to try, you will be a loser! So it is important to develop suitable strengthens before finding a job. After that, you have the right to choose a satisfactory career. But good jobs are usually demanding. We often see in the TV news that thousands of people are fighting for the work of a few cleaning team members. This shows that demand has already exceeded supply in employment. Only the outstanding person could have the opportunity to get a work he is interested in. The majority are just taking those leftovers they don’t want.

      So, no matter what your work is, you must continue to study in your lifetime. In other words, a person who is unwilling to lifetime study will certainly be eliminated. Some enter the company and work. They are promoted soon while others are dismissed soon. Here are some reasons: these people are dismissed because they are often not positive and serious enough. Most of all they have no habit of continuing education. Generations change constantly and quickly. If we do not make changes, we can’t keep up with the steps of the time. “It is difficult to find a good job, but to keep the job well is often more difficult!” We must understand this principle while looking for a job. In this way, we could have a foothold on our job.
