Love is Not Everything for a Foreign Marriage |

| ¡@ | Many people dream about having a foreign marriage only because it sounds romantic and beautiful. Yet some contradictories show up when the dream comes true in real life. There are responsibilities to be taken and they are more complicated than the relationship between a couple. Love is not everything. Customarily, people marry people from the same culture, speaking the same language, and living up to the same ethics. On the other hand, some people are living a wonderful life ever with their foreign husband or wife. There are both advantages and disadvantages about marrying someone from different culture. | ¡@ |
| ¡@ | It¡¦s quite difficult to get oneself used to another culture. Very often there is nothing in common at the beginning. Besides, we must know that marriage is not simply about the husband and the wife; it¡¦s about tow families and their relatives. A couple must take many things into consideration such as understanding from the two families, way of living and even education for the children. 1. Religion might be one of the conflict points. Under the kind of situation, being so religious is a problem, which means one might have to give up his own religion in order to maintain the relationship. ¡@ |

2. Culture and history have always been complex and a block to the way of happiness. Although it¡¦s a whole new century and things are changing, some beliefs and traditions remain. It takes one time to accept strange concepts and be comfortable with the unfamiliar environment. It¡¦s hard time to endure strangeness and unfamiliarity. As result, a couple easily gets mad at each other and has fight. ¡@ |

3. The cultural identification of the next generation is the most important issue nowadays when we talk about foreign marriage. The child must know who he is, where he comes from and what insight he has through his blood. We must know that culture cannot be sorted into either noble or inferior. It¡¦s sad for those who don¡¦t respect the heritage that their spouses inherit. |

On the other hand, many genealogy researchers have shown that a child whose parents are from different races may be cleverer and have outstanding representation than the average. In facts, because of it, some women are dying for having a mixed-blood child. Besides, there are other advantages in the marriage. |

1. This type of marriage offer more opportunities to know a different culture and different life style. People who are engaged to another culture when living in another country will learn how to see things with distinct points of view. |

2. Intermarriage makes the couple well-organized and independent. It¡¦s a good thing to discipline oneself not to rely on someone else. Everyone has potential to fight against the tough surroundings and people. He or she is able to face the problem with positive attitude. These help people to improve their social skills especially in a foreign country. |

3. Children from a foreign marriage have special background. They are influenced by at least two cultures and are supposed to know at least two languages. These kids are more likely to be open-minded and have wider world views. |

For many reasons, the number of foreign marriage is increasing. Studying abroad, traveling, or working in oversea office, is only for the purpose of marriage. In short, no matter it is a traditional marriage or a foreign one, what makes it good and last forever is about respect and understanding. Although there are differences between peoples and cultures, there are always happily married couples as long as the couple cherish each other and try as much as they can to reconcile with each other. It is all because they nave not only love but trust in their marriage. ¡@ |
