Is marriage necessary?

More and more young people nowadays don’t consider marriage necessary, nor do they feel it has much importance. Unlike the older generation, who takes marriage as the most important even in a person’s life, the modern young couples have something different in mind. In their opinion, there are many possible reasons of why couples do not want to walk down the isle.

When a person is single, he or she has all the time for themselves. They have the freedom to make any decisions thinking of not things more than what’s good for them. Some people prefer freedom to a family. Other than that, forming a family means they are bond to the responsibility to whom ever he or she chooses to spend the rest of their life with. A total devotion to the wife, husband and children is needed to maintain a good family. Therefore, if one has already had most of their time and effort occupied on their job, it’s impossible for them to start a companionship. In addition to personal reason, financial problems may also keep couples away from marriage. The wedding alone costs lots of money. After that, living in two might mean taxes, perhaps a house mortgage and daily costs. Later, when it’s time to raise a child, money can be a real big concern. As a result, before having a steady income, most couples wouldn’t consider of getting married. What’s more, the increasing divorce rate is something that keeps the young lovers from starting a family. We can hear about affairs from friends and families. In the States, almost one out of three couples had gone through a separation. The image of living “happily ever after” has gone from a beautiful dream to an almost impossible ending. Aside from all of the above reasons, parental disapproval may also cause difficulties. Too many lovers were forced to separate because their parents didn’t think the ones they have chosen were good enough to match their own child. Therefore, getting married at this present time seems harder than it was few decades ago.

A marriage certificate doesn’t weight as much as it did years before. Of course, a piece of paper can’t measure the love between tow people. Since this is a new generation, everyone can do whatever they wish. As long as the couple is getting along well and happy with what they have, then married doesn’t seem to be necessary.
