The Media

¡@
¡@     ¡§Media¡¨ may be a technical term for some of us, something which we can think  of media is TV or newspaper. The former was invented just one century ago, but the latter as centuries ago. It is so old-fashioned that we can call it an antique. TVs are more convenient for people to get the latest news or information. Just because of its convenience, it also makes people assimilate useless information quickly like gossips about singers or movie stars or some pornographic films. Besides, TVs provide images which will degrade our moral values while some are good and will not bring problems to our value systems. A few years ago there was news from TV. A boy violently attacked a woman just because he watched the TV show which was a blue film that described a woman was on her way home and a man followed her and attacked her in mid night. So the boy imitated the man¡¦s behavior. The news like this emerges in endless streams. Especially for children or teenagers, the images will affect them a lot, because they don¡¦s have the ability to choose what is good or what is bad for them. It is parents who choose carefully the programs for their children to watch. ¡@
¡@     Newspaper is an old-fashioned media; people use them to convey news about economy, political affairs, sports or society. There is also information on geography, health, technology, even fashion from all over the world. You can catch the latest knowledge you want. There are always editorials on newspaper too. If you read it, you can find out what is the most important news in recent time and learn different ideas or viewpoints that you never think up. Reading newspapers also has a lot of advantages. For example, you can improve your speed on reading also can improve application of words and phrases. Some newspaper editors comment news for readers. Besides, they publish headline news in the first page and make it look bigger than others while less important news are conserved in a small space. You can¡¦t miss headlines and you have to read them. That is a good way to choose what to read from thick pages of newspapers. Newspapers have another problem that is every newspaper has its own style; some are entertainment, some are gossips, some are economics and some are sports. If you want good knowledge for you, you¡¦d better not choose gossips to read, which are not healthy for everybody. ¡@
¡@     Each type of media has its own advantages and disadvantages. No matter what kind of media your information or knowledge comes from, the better way is choosing the media which report useful information and are good for your mind. ¡@
