   How to Avert Obesity

¡@     There are more and more people who are overweight. Obesity may be a serious health problem today because it is a contributing cause to a lot of health problems. Heart and artery system disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and arthritis are more common in people who are overweight. Besides, overweight causes problems with muscles and joints. Many studies are beginning to link cancer with obesity. Cancer cells are more likely to be found in fat tissue than in muscle. In addition to health problems, fat people may suffer from mental stress. The reason is our culture teaches us that ¡§slim is beautiful.¡¨ People who are overweight may find that they are difficult to buy clothes. People who are significantly overweight will also find public facilities such as waiting room chairs too small to sit. Some obese people say they feel humiliated by their conditions so they avoid going out in public. ¡@
¡@     Since people are pleased with their body slim nowadays, heavy people want to reduce their fat but using the wrong ways. That will make them sick. Actually, there are many healthy ways to lose weight. First of all, eat healthily rather than eating little. We can take more fresh fruit and vegetable on meal time. Take brown rice more often. Take fish rather than red meat and take some dessert to award ourselves. Second, delicious food is not antagonistic to health. We should take low calorie food with little sugar and sodium. Third, we should face the music. Why can one¡¦s on-diet project not succeed? Once we eat properly, extra fat is burned meanwhile muscles are built. Oppositely, overeating makes us lack of muscles but only get more fat. ¡@
¡@     Doctors suggest if we want to lose weight, there are several tips to observe. First, do not watch TV while taking meal. Drink more water. Take more vegetables and eat at least five kinds each day. Brush teeth after every meal. Write eating diary to remind what food you¡¦ve eaten and how many calories you¡¦ve consumed during each meal. Do not believe exaggerated advertisements on losing weight. Their false information can hurt our body and health and recover fat faster than before. ¡@
¡@     We should follow the right ways to lose our weight and take exercise to balance our body and weight. After all obesity is not a sin and not a disease. It just requires good disciplines on what we eat and how much we eat. ¡@
