Problems the First Day at School

Nick :                        Today is the day of freshman orientation.  I am a student
                                  of college of Science and Engineering.  I find a seat in the
                                  auditorium and sit down.

Department head:  I’m Prof. Chen, head of the physics department.  How do
        you do and what’s your name?

Nick:                          I’m fine.  Thanks, and my name is Nick.

Department head:  Are you also a student of physics department?

Student:                   Yes, I am.  Would you please tell me how to register, sir?

Department head:  Yes!  You can go to the administration hall.  Or ask my
            secretary.  They can give the information you want.

Nick:                          Thanks.

Secretary:                Can I help you?

Nick:                          Yes!  Would you please tell me the procedures of
                                   registration?

Secretary:                Of course!  You can register on line.  Enter your name and
                      student number into Fu-Jen website.  Find the site of
                      physics department.  Select required courses, which you
                     are interested to take.  Click them before you exit it.  What
                     other problems do you have?

Nick:                          Can I pay tuition and fee by credit card?

Secretary:                Yes, you can.  It is safe.

Nick:                          When can I go online to add courses?

Secretary:                It begins this Sunday and ends next Friday.  It is about a
                    week for you to finish course enrollment.

Secretary:                Hold on a second. Because you are a freshman, it begins at
                      five pm Sunday.  But it is possible that the website is very
                      crowed because many people are online.  So you can go
                      online at a later date.

Nick:                          But I am worried that will be full before I can access to the
                                  web.

Secretary:                Don’t worry.  The courses are offered for freshmen to
                                  select first.

Nick:                          It’s a relief now!

In the student dormitory, two new roommates are chatting.

Mark:                         Hi, how do you do?

Ed:                              I am fine. Thanks. Nice to meet you.

Mark:                         Which department do you study in?

Ed:                              I study in the department of mathematics, and you?

Mark:                          I study in the department of physics- optical science.

Ed:                              Oh, do you know how to add and drop courses?  I couldn’t
                             register the history course.

Mark:                          I am not sure how to do that, either.  But I can go to ask
                             my senior classmate.   Please wait a moment.

Ed:                              Thanks a lot.

Later…

Mark:                         Hey, I have found out what’s going on the net for you.
                             First, you surf on the Fu-Jen website. Read and follow
                             instructions on the web step by step.  They will tell you
                             how to register.

Ed:                              Oh, thank you so much.

Mark:                         You are welcome, I am going to take lunch at the dining
                                   hall. Do you want to go together?

Ed:                             Yeah, I am so hungry. Let’s go!
