Some of the charity groups in Taiwan finance themselves through not only donation, but also profits made from their own business. For example, Tzu Chi foundation has one hospital in Taipei, one in Chiayi, one in Taichung, one in Taitung and two in Hualien. They have not only the hospitals, but also the college and others. Another example is F.G.S Juridical Person Compassion Foundation. This charity organization has its own educational center, nursery schools and also hospitals. The last charity foundation I want to mention is Cathay Life Charity Foundation. It was established by Cathay Financial Holdings. They own the banks, insurance companies and the investment trust companies to support their foundation. |
