The purpose

Through the effects of internet multimedia, this site is designed to help* students improve their listening and speaking skills and to balance their time studying in and after class.

The content

His site is aimed at reinforcing the effectiveness of the English conversation text in : Campus Talk ; . Both : speaking practice ; (28 dialogues) and : classroom activity ; (14 activities) are meant to offer students a lively place to improve their listening and speaking abilities.

The design of Speaking Practice

There are five steps to helping students acquire speaking skills in a step by step way; listen only , listen and read , translate , think and talk and self-evaluation. ?

The activities listed on this site are applicable to classes of various sizes. They offer many chances for students to practice their speaking.

The process of Speaking Practice

A. Listen only

After you choose the precise unit and group,
click : : below the demo screen to listen to the dialogue repeatedly.??

B. Listen and read

Then? click : : below the demo screen to listen to and read the dialogue repeatedly until you feel confident with the material and are ready to play a role therein.????

C. Translate (Role play)

After you choose a role to play, click : : below the demo screen to play the role repeatedly until you fully? understand your part of the dialogue. (It is natural for you to experience some difficulties when there is more than one modifier appearing in a sentence. You need to practice more until you catch the structural differences between the Chinese and English languages, and feel confident to convert the structure from Chinese into English.)

D. Think and Talk

After you choose a role to play,click : : below the demo screen to play the role repeatedly until you can fluently speak * your part of the dialogue. (During this step, you will not be disturbed by the Chinese translation. Now, you have to depend on your own skills to say it correctly. Of course, there is always more than one way to express an idea. The text in the book functions only as a reference during your learning process.)

 

E. Self-evaluation ?

Get your microphone and tape recorder ready on your computer. Then, you can save the your recording file on your computer for your own evaluation.
