The internet-assisted course is designed to prepare students working in the international business field, which requires effective communicative skills in English. By introducing core business concepts, the course aims to help students understand their language proficiency, enhance their language communication skills, and foster their autonomous learning in English. Being exposed to challenging and interesting topics, students will practice English through a series of communicative activities such as participating in discussion, doing role-plays as well as mini case studies, and reporting individual presentations as well as team projects. The purpose of all classroom activities is to provide students the target language in functional settings and to improve their competence and performance in business skills.
Serving as a language proficiency preparation for Business field, the course will introduce key business concepts based on the topics of TOEIC ® (Test of English for International Communication), business vocabulary, and communicative expressions in realistic situations. Providing mock practices and test analysis for TOEIC questions in Listening and Reading sections, the course can be an access for students to apply test-taking strategies in TOEIC® and to achieve the goal as effective communicators in international business environments. Texts and topics chosen from the business world are broad rather than specialized, including subjects such as Organization, Production, Business Arrangement, Business Plans, Marketing & Advertising, and Social & Cultural Awareness. The communication skills covered include Meetings, Telephone Etiquette, Presentations, and Negotiations.

You are expected to be an active, energetic, and positive member in this program--this is possible only if you are present. Thus, regular attendance, class participation, and learning attitude are very important for your grade and progress in the academic performance. Please make necessary preparation for weekly assigned topics, team discussion, and project presentation; failure to do so will positively affect your final grade. You are responsible for the presence on the assigned dates for group reports and exams. If you are absent on the scheduled dates, you won?™t get any grade; that is, no make-up assignments. Anyone who misses the class more than THREE times without school approved excused absences, you might not get the credits. For the classroom etiquette, please listen to and show your respect for the views of your classmates. Besides, please turn off all the electronic machines during the class meeting period; any noises from those will interrupt the class procedure and this is impolite to your class!
The best way to improve your English speaking ability is to talk, talk, and talk some more! Don't worry about making mistakes and don't forget that you will never learn to communicate in English if you keep your mouth closed! I hope you try your best to follow the program and find your ways to communicate effectively!
