The course is designed to provide an overview of the TOEIC (The Test of English for International Communication) test and, meanwhile, develop students’ language skills needed for the test and improve their test-taking skills, with the aim of leading them to obtain a satisfactory score on the TOEIC test.
This course will begin with an in-depth analysis of each test section in the reading component and the listening component in the TOEIC test, advancing students’ understanding of what each section intends to test on test-takers’ English proficiency.
Students will be required to take myriads of in-class quizzes in order to get the hands-on experiences of taking the TOEIC test. This course is primarily comprised of the instructor’s lectures, in-class quizzes and three arranged examinations. The course also adopts supplementary materials from other useful textbooks.
After taking this course, students are expected to (i.) obtain a minimum TOEIC score of 785 if s/he meets all the requirements, and (ii,) acquire a battery of test-taking skills applicable to other proficiency tests.
