        This reading course intends to teach students the basic skills of critical reading.  The reading will cover quite a range of topics, including, fashion, advertising, television, family life, cloning, education, gender, sports, race.  Students are expected to read closely, think a lot, and say a lot about the assigned essays, which will mainly be selected from the eighth edition of The Contemporary Reader.
