This course aims to address on a new dimension of English
Language Teaching that considers teaching and learning cultural
content within the existing national curriculum.
The purpose
of this approach is to raise the level of English teaching
from instructing linguistic skills to incorporating sociolinguistic
knowledge and cross-cultural understanding. I would like to
encourage educators to remain ideologically critical and culturally
reflective on the teaching recourses we use. Ultimately, I
also wish that while learning English and the world cultures,
our English learners have the ability to reflect their own
cultural identity cautiously.
