One evening I had an encounter with a ticking bomb, and contemplated behaving like a fool, but rejected the impulse because we weren't married. |

by Russell Baker

Explanation
of the Quote |
In the sentence previous to the quote, Baker wrote, "Now I treat women like ticking bombs." We can, therefore, understand that the ticking bomb in this quote was a woman whom Baker once met and had an impulsive sexual desire for. However, Baker did not give into his momentary sexual drive because he wanted to save the sacret moment for his future wife with the hope that he and his wife could make a couple as ideal as Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.
從這個引句的前一個句子 "Now I treat women like ticking bombs." |
