Practical
Business Communication
is a 30 weeks (one academic year) 19 units course designed for college/university
level students in Taiwan. PBC is
divided into three sections including Business Letters (10 units), Business
Documents (4 units) and Business Conversation (5 units). The course
uses a task-based curriculum providing students not only with sufficient
knowledge but also with hands-on experience when they are handling business
problems. Students are instructed knowledge regarding customer relations
and service sectors, official letter formats, procedures of international
trade, as well as how written correspondence functions in an organization.
Core grammar and vocabulary skills are practiced so that a high level
of linguistic competence can be achieved. Oral drills including telephone
conversation and business meetings such as policy making, product advertisement
campaign, price negotiation and complaint settlement are also offered
to improve performance in the business community.
